{"id":480,"date":"2025-05-15T11:13:49","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T11:13:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tcap.blog\/?p=480"},"modified":"2025-05-26T19:23:27","modified_gmt":"2025-05-26T19:23:27","slug":"foi-requests-an-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tcap.blog\/2025\/05\/15\/foi-requests-an-update\/","title":{"rendered":"FOI Requests : An Update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"435\" src=\"https:\/\/tcap.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/lpQcws7D_bigger-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-423\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tcap.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/lpQcws7D_bigger-1.jpg 620w, https:\/\/tcap.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/lpQcws7D_bigger-1-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DHSC Response and Next Steps<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of our ongoing review into the classification of Cummins Ltd\u2019s engine production activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Cummins Accountability Project (TCAP) submitted two Freedom of Information requests to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The requests sought to clarify:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The number of emergency service vehicles, specifically ambulances, commissioned or deployed during March 2020 \u2013 March 2021;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whether any of those vehicles were fitted with Cummins engines, particularly those manufactured at the Darlington Engine Plant;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whether Cummins Ltd was regarded as a critical or key supplier during this period;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And any internal correspondence relating to Cummins\u2019 operational status.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DHSC\u2019s Response (15 May 2025)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cDHSC does not hold the information you have requested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, you may wish to contact NHS England, which may hold information relevant to your request, as it funds ambulance services via ambulance trusts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 Freedom of Information Team, DHSC<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>A copy of their full letter has been retained on file. TCAP has written to DHSC to confirm that the above response applies to all elements of both submitted FOIs (references FOI-1605532 and FOI-1605710).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Next Steps<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In line with their advice, a consolidated Freedom of Information request has now been submitted to <strong>NHS England<\/strong>.
